பிரபல எழுத்தாளர் கே.எஸ்.சிவகுமாரன் அவர்களால் ஆங்கிலத்தில் மொழி பெயர்க்கப்பட்ட எனது கவிதைகள்

எனது ''பாம்புகள் குளிக்கும் நதி ''கவிதை நூலில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ள 3 கவிதைகளை இலங்கையின் பிரபல விமர்சகரும் எழுத்தாளரும் ஊடகவியலாளருமான கே.எஸ்.சிவகுமாரன் அவர்கள் மொழி பெயர்த்துள்ளார் அவருக்கு மனம் நிறைந்த நன்றிகள்.

The following is my attempt to translate three of the poems written in Tamil by Pottuvil Asmin, a young Lankan poet and TV producer. The poems were taken from his collection “Paampukal Kulikkum Nathi” (Snakes bathing in the River).

01. The poem missed

Rising in the morning I opened the door.
The sky seen lying at my doorstep
Seen were stars lying here and there
As dried leaves.
I searched all around
Couldn’t find the Sun.
The fallen pieces of the Moon
Spread everywhere in the grassland
As snow.
Came to the street, couldn’t find it either.
The electric post submerged in the water
Said that the flood pulled them along
Right throughout the night.
Tried to open my lips to cry out
Found it to have been locked
With a padlock by someone.
I ran hurriedly
To open the Notebook
Where I wrote my poem y’day
Found the poem also missing.
What remained were mere
Words.

03. Snakes bathing in the River

The Sun’s value is not seen
Even if it’s in the Heavens.
Because the rain falls on the ground
Its value doesn’t lessen.
Pretty hands not necessary
To give love
The body alone doesn’t
Give pleasure to enjoy
The worthiness of the lover
Is not known as she sits
Next to you.
Even if there is distance
Love doesn’t extinguish
The river water doesn’t get poisoned
Just because snakes bathe there
The Almighty doesn’t give
Everything as jealousy persists
We humans cannot create the world
But I would say a spot of word
Is enough to break the world.

02.Legs-Attention

Dogs chasing, bit the legs
Legs trembling tread
On flowers
The worms too
Appreciated the
Crumbled flowers.
Dirt resided in the
Minds of the worms
Even the legs are life
Flowers too life
Even the Almighty
Felt it today
But the man died.
He was like an animal
It’s why he   forgot today
The balanced justice.
